Frequently asked questions
What size unit should I choose?
As a rough guide: a 40 sq ft unit suits a 1-bed flat or student contents; 56–65 sq ft works for 1–2 bed homes; 80 sq ft covers a full 2-bed house including white goods; and 160 sq ft handles a large family home or bulk business stock. Use the size guide above to compare layouts, and if you’re between sizes, go larger — it’s easier to organise and access your items.
What does the weekly rate include?
Your weekly rate covers exclusive 24/7 access to your unit, our state-of-the-art security system, CCTV monitoring, and a clean, dry, alarmed unit. There are no hidden fees — the price shown is the price you pay. Storage insurance is available as an optional add-on at the next step.
Is there a minimum storage period?
Our minimum storage period is just one week, and we operate on a rolling weekly contract with no long-term commitment required. You can vacate with as little as one week’s notice.
Can I upgrade or downsize my unit later?
Yes. If your storage needs change, just speak to the site team and they’ll arrange a transfer to a different unit size, subject to availability. There’s no penalty for changing size.
Are the units secure?
All units are individually alarmed, secured with your own padlock, and covered by 24-hour CCTV. The entire site is fenced and gated with PIN-code access, so only you and authorised Loc-Box staff can enter your unit.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No deposit is required. You pay only for the weeks you use, billed in advance. You can also reserve your unit at no cost and complete payment at a later date.
What items can’t I store?
For the safety of all customers, the following are not permitted in any unit:
- Cars, vans & motorised vehicles
- Motorbikes & mopeds
- Jet skis & water vehicles
- Lawn mowers & petrol-powered garden equipment
- BBQs containing gas or ash
- Flammable liquids, gas canisters, or hazardous chemicals
- Perishable food or living plants
- Illegal items or stolen goods
